Artwalk Begins the 2016/2017 Season

09-11-2016 |

Hundreds of people walked the streets of the Centro Historico of Mazatlan for the Artwalk self-guided tour, a project started by artist Glenn Rogers, and that this year has managed to incorporate national and foreign artists that display their work in 27 private studios and galleries in the port.

As in the eleven previous editions, Artwalk Mazatlan takes place the first Friday of each month and consistantly surprises with a powerful creative universe explored by hundreds of art fans with self-guided tours with map in hand that announces the event in restaurants, galleries, and other places of interest such as Plaza Machado, the Art Museum of Mazatlan and Paseo Olas Altas.

The extensive list of locals to visit in Artwalk includes the workshops of the School of Fine Arts of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan, and should meet the different tastes of the fans: there is everything from masks and sculptures reflecting the Prehispanic culture to classical painting techniques in oil, jewelry and more contemporary expressions such as abstract and digital art.

In addition to appreciating and to buying art, those attending had the opportunity to meet and talk with the artists and learn about the creative process of their work.

It is noteworthy that this first Artwalk of the season was very supportive of the foreign community who visited the 27 galleries and workshops of Centro Historico.

Five dates remain for Artwalk this season, including December 2 2016; January 6, February 3, March 3, and April 7, 2017 from 4 to 8 pm.
